Overview
XAMS is a VR-based hub application developed for Meta Quest 2, designed to provide a central interface for accessing the client’s suite of XR training applications. The hub allowed users to configure device settings and browse and launch available training modules through an interactive VR interface.
My Role
I contributed to this project as a Developer over the initial two weeks of its production phase, with a primary focus on implementing the main hub UI.
My Contributions
- Established the initial UI structure for the VR hub.
- Implemented the settings menu system, including device configuration functionality such as Wi-Fi settings.
- Developed the training application browser, allowing users to browse, select, and launch available training applications.
- Implemented menu navigation and UI interaction systems.
- Developed reusable UI components to support consistent behaviour across the interface.
- Implemented haptic feedback for UI interactions.
- Performed the majority of the initial scene setup and got the app running natively on Quest 2.
- Integrated 3D environment assets and UI icons produced by the art team.
- Collaborated with artists to ensure the implemented UI accurately matched their designs.
- Worked closely with the lead developer throughout the project to align implementation with the project’s technical direction and development practices.
